What puts a spa on this list

A spa appears in this guide only when it is in Italy and its operator's own website confirms that the bathing water comes from natural thermal springs. Nothing is ranked or scored: the count stands at six because six spas currently meet that test, and every pool, sauna, admission and family detail shown here is drawn from what each operator publishes about itself.

Day tickets and overnight stays

All six sell day admission, so no listing here requires an overnight booking to bathe. Four of them — Fonteverde, Grotta Giusti, QC Spa Bagni Vecchi and Terme di Saturnia — also confirm a hotel on the same site, useful if you want to combine thermal bathing with a stay. QC Spa Dolomiti describes itself as a day-spa complex, and Terme Merano is a ticketed thermal complex in the centre of town.

Tuscany, the Alps and one town centre

Three of the six sit in Tuscan spring towns — San Casciano dei Bagni, Monsummano Terme and Saturnia — while QC Spa Bagni Vecchi above Bormio and QC Spa Dolomiti in Val di Fassa hold confirmed mountain locations, and Terme Merano occupies a town-centre site. The split matters for families: the three Tuscan spas and Terme Merano are marked family-friendly, whereas both Alpine spas are recorded as not family-friendly, so check age rules before visiting with children. A sauna area and outdoor thermal bathing are confirmed at all six; a steam bath is confirmed at five, and an indoor pool at three.
